About Moulton Bikes
Yes - comfort is one of the Moulton’s greatest strengths. Its full suspension system smooths out rough roads and limits the ‘jarring’ that can travel through the body on a conventional bike. Carefully refined frame geometry provides an optimal riding position, while the low step-through design makes mounting and dismounting easy for riders.
Not at all. The Moulton’s stiff frame and small, rigid wheels with high-pressure tyres minimise energy loss. Rather than absorbing your effort, the bike delivers a lively, responsive, and surprisingly efficient ride — combining comfort with real performance.
Moulton suspension allows the advantages of the very rigid wheels, the high-pressure tyres and the spaceframe to be enjoyed whilst giving a much more comfortable ride than a conventional bicycle. By isolating the rider from road shock while keeping the wheels in consistent contact with the surface, Moulton suspension improves traction, reduces vibration-induced losses, and reduces rolling resistance
Very much so. Small wheels are stiff, strong and light. They have a lower moment of inertia, which means quicker acceleration and more responsive steering. Their reduced size also creates less aerodynamic drag. This isn’t just theory - the Moulton has a proven racing pedigree, a world record, and standout performances in the legendary Race Across America.
The Moulton is exceptionally versatile. It can be adapted for racing, touring, commuting, or everyday riding, and performs just as well on short trips as it does on long-distance journeys. Thanks to its suspension, it remains comfortable and capable on both smooth tarmac and rougher terrain.
Yes. Most models feature a frame that separates for transport or storage, without compromising ride quality. The two halves fit easily into the boot of a car or a large suitcase for air travel. The small wheels also make the bike shorter overall than a conventional diamond-frame bicycle, so it’s easier to park or store at home or at work.
Absolutely. With its rigid spaceframe and low centre of gravity, the Moulton is an excellent load carrier. Small wheels allow luggage to be mounted lower, improving stability, while the strong lattice frame spreads loads evenly. The tough wheels are particularly good at handling heavy loads, and the frame design even offers convenient spaces for carrying tools or small items. As a fully-laden touring bicycle, the Moulton is in a class of its own and has proven itself on expedition rides around the world.
The Moulton is beautifully unique by design. Its visually striking appearance reflects the engineering thinking behind it - every element has a purpose. It stands apart from other bicycles and is something to be enjoyed, cherished, and admired.
Moulton bicycles are rooted in a proud British engineering heritage. Conceived by an iconic inventor driven to create the highest-quality machine possible, each Moulton is expertly engineered and hand-crafted in Bradford on Avon, Britain. The focus on design, materials, and build quality ensures long-lasting performance and strong value over time.
No. Moulton bicycles are designed first and foremost for exceptional ride comfort and performance. While they are not folding bikes, many Moulton models are engineered to separate quickly for convenient transport and storage—without any compromise in stiffness, handling, or ride quality. Most of the Moulton range is available with a central kingpin, allowing the frame to split neatly into two halves that fit easily into the boot of a car or a dedicated travel case. New Series models go a step further, featuring easily demountable front forks and rear triangles for even more compact stowage and practical airline travel.
The Moulton suspension is designed to require little or no maintenance, unlike most other suspension bicycles. In particular, the New Series models are unique in that there are no bearings to wear or seize, as all movement is accommodated in torsion rubber pivots. Other Moultons only require grease nipple lubrication of the rear pivot at annual intervals.
Spares & Warranty
We offer a small selection of commonly requested spare parts through our website. For more specialised or model-specific components, please contact your local authorised Moulton dealer. Your dealer can advise on the correct parts for your particular model, place an order with the factory on your behalf, and assist with fitting if required.
Please note that the Moulton factory is unable to supply spare parts or service information for bicycles manufactured prior to 1980. For these models, please contact the Moulton Bicycle Club who may be able to help.
The Moulton Bicycle Company offers, as standard, a full one year guarantee against defects in materials or manufacture, subject to the limitations and exclusions.
The Moulton Bicycle Company also offers, free of charge, a guarantee extension to TEN years for the frame and fork and to FIVE years for Moulton rubber suspension parts, from the date of purchase. This Extended Guarantee is in addition to the purchaser’s statutory rights and is subject to specific limitations, exclusions, terms and conditions.
Guarantee claims will only be honoured where the necessary terms and conditions have been fully satisfied. You must register your new Moulton Bicycle within ninety days of the date of purchase to qualify for your free Extended Guarantee.
The frame number of your Moulton is located on the rear of the central frame joint or stamped underneath the bottom bracket tube. This six-digit frame number is unique to your bicycle and will be required for insurance and/or positive identification purposes in the event of theft.
Some models also have a numbered label, usually affixed somewhere near the bottom bracket area. This five-digit ‘Replacement Part’ (‘RP’) number helps us to identify the original parts used to build your bicycle and should be quoted (along with the frame number) when ordering spare parts.
