Made in England
Every Moulton bicycle is proudly made in England on the historic grounds of The Hall Estate in Bradford-on-Avon. Within the estate’s former stable buildings, skilled craftspeople continue to hand-build each bicycle, combining precision engineering with traditional workmanship. This remarkable setting - where innovation has lived alongside heritage for generations - remains at the heart of Moulton production today, ensuring that every bike carries not only exceptional performance, but a direct connection to the place where the Moulton story began.
Masters of their craft
Behind every Moulton bicycle is a dedicated team of highly skilled craftspeople, designers, and engineers. Many have spent their entire careers at Moulton, developing their expertise to a level that becomes second nature. One member of the team has been with the company for over 60 years, embodying a lifetime of accumulated knowledge and experience.
Alongside these time-served masters, younger craftspeople learn their trade by observation and practice, aspiring to reach the same exceptional standards. Building a complete Moulton bicycle is a proud milestone - a moment when craftsmanship, patience, and skill come together. This extraordinary loyalty and depth of expertise is increasingly rare in modern manufacturing and remains central to Moulton’s identity.
Made in England. Admired Worldwide
At a time when almost all bicycle manufacturing has moved overseas, Moulton remains firmly rooted in British production. Today, fewer than 5% of bicycles sold in the UK are made domestically, making Moulton’s commitment to local craftsmanship increasingly rare.
From its base in Bradford-on-Avon, Moulton ships bicycles to over 30 countries worldwide. Frames are fabricated in the historic stables, before moving on to Moulton’s original 1963 ‘Bicycle Works’ for painting, assembly, and final preparation. Each finished bicycle is then carefully packaged and sent across the globe - a truly British-made product valued by riders worldwide.

Precision Fabrication
Moulton bicycles are not mass-produced. Each spaceframe is built by hand through an intricate and time-consuming process. The Double Pylon frame, the most complex design, contains over 200 separate braze points. Preparing and brazing the main frame alone can take around 15 hours, with a further 15 hours required for front and rear forks, and suspension components. Then an additional 30 hours for polishing, painting and assembly.
Every tube is carefully cut, prepared, aligned, and joined by skilled hands. As a result, each bicycle is unique - subtly different, yet equal in quality and performance. From the beginning, Alex Moulton believed in producing high-quality, high-value, low-volume products. His deliberately labour-intensive designs ensured that craftsmanship would always remain at the heart of production.
Art in Motion
Moulton bicycles are more than technical products - they are works of art in motion. Their exposed spaceframe structure leaves nothing hidden, demanding exceptional precision and finish. Every joint, line, and detail must meet the highest standards, both mechanically and visually.
The distinctive geometry of the Moulton frame gives it a character unmatched by conventional bicycles. This unique aesthetic reflects a deep understanding of engineering, a dedication to detail, and an uncompromising approach to quality. Cost is never allowed to outweigh craftsmanship. The result is a bicycle that combines performance, beauty, and longevity - designed to be admired as well as experienced.
